Community Collaborative for Crisis Response - C3R Douglas
Crisis Response
Nichols Center is currently implementing a statewide Community Collaborative for Crisis Response and through our established model of building a community-based network of care we provide lasting support for families through prevention, intervention, and recovery tools. Utilizing innovative technology and strategic approaches to combat the current crisis of suicide, substance use, mental illness and the opioid epidemic. Our goal is to expand our efforts in increasing the Crisis Response Collaborative through CIT trainings, Mental Health First Aid, and Suicide Intervention Training to Georgia communities. In 2020, Douglas County lost one of our own first responders to mental illness and this created the awareness for these critical services in our own community. Nichols Center has worked with Douglas County Fire/EMS since 2021 for mental health support, crisis debriefing, suicide intervention, and trauma resiliency trainings.
Due to a growing need for crisis response, education and awareness of this project has raised heightened urgency for Nichols Center to begin collaborative implementation now. We have built a 3-year road map to expand the Community Collaborative for Crisis Response across the state of Georgia. CIT meetings are an essential part of developing this initiative, with monthly meetings that will discuss crisis, mental health, and identify community gaps.
