About the event

Douglasville First United Methodist Church is taking a proactive approach by organizing a Faith in Community Mental Health and Narcan/Naloxone training event. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the alarming issue of Opioid Overdose within the community. The event will feature a presentation by Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist, Tara Nichols, who is also the CEO of Nichols Center. Nichols will shed light on the escalating crisis surrounding mental health and discuss ways in which faith communities can play a crucial role in supporting mental wellness among their congregations.

In addition to Nichols' insights, Pete Clark, a renowned Harm Reduction expert and nonprofit consultant, will share valuable information on implementing safety practices within communities to minimize harm associated with mental health disorders and substance use. Clark's expertise will provide attendees with practical strategies for creating a safer and more supportive environment for individuals struggling with these challenges.
